Praxis Model in one paragraph
Praxis Model is a restaurant feasibility study consultancy for the six GCC markets: the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. It prepares restaurant, cafe and cloud kitchen feasibility studies for investors, with fixed, published prices from USD 3,999, delivery in seven days, and a direct verdict: Go, Go with Conditions, or a plain no when the numbers say no. It is independent: it earns nothing from a client's lease, fit-out, franchise or licence.

The founder: Ralph Homer
Short bio. Ralph Homer is the founder of Praxis Model. He has spent 33 years in Gulf hospitality and worked on more than 300 restaurant projects across the region. He writes the Praxis Answers and is the author of Make Every Mistake on Paper, the Praxis field guide.
Ralph can speak on:
- What it really costs to open a restaurant in Dubai, Riyadh and Jeddah, and where the money goes.
- Why Gulf restaurants close, and why no Gulf country measures how many do.
- Delivery apps: what the platforms really take and how operators negotiate.
- Leases and rent: why rent above 20 percent of sales is the line to walk away from.
- Food trucks and cloud kitchens as a first business, and which one a first-timer should choose.
- Saudization and the true cost of a Saudi restaurant payroll.
- What a feasibility study must show before a bank, an investor or a landlord says yes.
Formats: comment on deadline, interviews, guest columns, radio and podcasts.

| The figure | Source page |
|---|---|
| No GCC country publishes a measured restaurant survival or closure rate. When a news agency asked Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism for one, the department declined to provide figures. | The real Dubai restaurant failure rate |
| The "90 percent fail in the first year" line has no source. The best research found about 26 percent of restaurants close in year one and 57 to 61 percent by year three. | The real Dubai restaurant failure rate |
| A casual dining restaurant in Dubai costs USD 500,000 to 800,000 all in (AED 1.84m to 2.94m); a proper quick-service restaurant USD 200,000 to 400,000. | Opening a restaurant in Dubai: what it really costs |
| On a Dubai restaurant budget, build-out takes about 27 percent and working capital about 22 percent. | Opening a restaurant in Dubai: what it really costs |
| A properly built casual dining restaurant in Saudi Arabia costs SAR 2.5 million to 5 million to open, and a quick service unit SAR 1.1 million to 2.5 million. A 15-person team with 10 expats carries SAR 90,000 to 100,000 a year in levies and iqamas before anyone earns a salary. | What it costs to open a restaurant in Saudi Arabia |
| Delivery platforms in the Gulf take 15 to 35 percent of each order. Add VAT on the fees and card processing, and a "25 percent" deal consumes 29 to 32 percent of gross. | What delivery apps really take |
| Saudi delivery app orders reached 408 million in 2025, up from 228 million in 2023 (General Authority for Competition, via Argaam). | GCC restaurant statistics 2026 |
| A realistic food truck launch costs AED 120,000 to 400,000 in Dubai and SAR 50,000 to 200,000 in Saudi Arabia; a good truck nets 12 to 30 percent of sales. | Starting a food truck in Dubai or Saudi Arabia |
| A station in a shared Dubai cloud kitchen starts around AED 25,000 to 50,000; a single brand usually tops out at AED 50,000 to 150,000 of sales a month. | Starting a cloud kitchen in Dubai |
